Scottsdale residents are urged to lend a helping hand this summer by donating water and other essential items for heat relief to those in need. The city's hydration stations and Beat the Heat Program are in need of public support to meet the growing demand for assistance.

According to a report by the city, all six hydration stations in Scottsdale are appealing for donations of bottled water to provide a respite from the scorching summer temperatures. Residents can drop off water bottle donations at various locations including Vista del Camino Community Center, Paiute Neighborhood Center, and several libraries in the city.

In addition to water, heat relief and hygiene items like socks, deodorant, sunblock, soap, and shampoo are also needed this summer. Donations of these items can be made at the Vista del Camino Community Center on Fridays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Furthermore, the Scottsdale Senior Services is seeking donations for its annual Beat the Heat Program, which assists homebound seniors with necessary items for summer relief. Donations can be made at the Via Linda Senior Center from now through May 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

To boost donations for the Beat the Heat Program, a special event titled “Fill-a-Cruiser” will be hosted by the Senior Services team in collaboration with Scottsdale Police and Scottsdale Fire. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 18, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Granite Reef Senior Center, with the aim of filling a police cruiser with essential heat relief items like water bottles, Brita water pitchers with filters, and nutritional drinks.

Residents are encouraged to visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov and search for "Beat the Heat" for more information on how to contribute to the cause and help alleviate the impact of the summer heat on vulnerable members of the community.
