The Indian Bend Wash flood control project in Scottsdale, Arizona, which turned a flood hazard into a renowned green space, will be celebrated through a series of free community events in May.

The project, which was officially dedicated in 1985 after almost two decades of development, is a significant part of Scottsdale's landscape. Spanning 11 miles, the Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt is praised for its 24 grade-separated crossings and is recognized as one of Arizona's top urban green spaces.

Residents and visitors are invited to join the festivities honoring the Indian Bend Wash. According to the announcement, there will be various events throughout May to engage the community in celebrating the history and beauty of the Wash.

The events include a Playground Jam Fest at Indian School Park on May 4, Paws in the Park at Chaparral Dog Park on May 19, and a Dive-in Movie night at Eldorado Aquatic Center on May 25. Each event offers a unique opportunity for individuals and families to enjoy the outdoors and come together in commemoration of the Wash's transformation.

The Playground Jam Fest will feature live entertainment and family activities, while Paws in the Park welcomes attendees to bring their furry companions for a morning of fun and socializing with local dog vendors. The Dive-in Movie night promises a cinematic experience under the stars at the aquatic center.

These events aim to bring the community together to appreciate the rich history and scenic landscapes of the Indian Bend Wash, highlighting the impact of the flood control project on the city's environment and recreational spaces.
